Hydrogen transportation and storage is one of the challenges faced during accepting hydrogen as fuel. LOH [Liquid Organic Hydride] is a break through technology developed at CSIR. The technology is in the process of commercialization which will showcase economical bulk Hydrogen transportation with minimal risk and utilizing the present petroleum infrastructure eliminating expensive metal hydride cylinders and carbon nanotubes. The weight % storage is around 6.8% and meets the present DOE targets.
The technology is under development at National Environmental Engineering and Research institute, Nagpur. Under CSIR guidelines, Hydrocreatives shall be given rights to commercialize the technology for bulk hydrogen storage and transportation. Any industry which presently suffers from leakages, gas slips while compressing and storage while dealing with bulk quantities of hydrogen is a potential user for LOH. |
